Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center was the first hospital to open in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center and serves as the primary teaching hospital for McGovern Medical School, part of UTHealth. In addition to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and the Memorial Hermann Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, the campus is home to renowned institutes, such as the Mischer Neuroscience Institute; the Heart and Vascular Institute; the Red Duke Trauma Institute; and Life Flight, which provides air medical transport to patients worldwide. The campus has achieved one of the highest levels of recognition a hospital can receive – Magnet® recognition for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. In 2015, the campus earned the prestigious UHC Quality Leadership Award, given to the nation’s top academic medical centers that have demonstrated excellence in delivering high-quality patient care, as measured by the UHC Quality and Accountability Study. TIRR Memorial Hermann is ranked as the best rehabilitation hospital in Texas and the second best in the United States, according to US News & World Report‘s Best Hospital rankings for 2016-2017.
